Great Week for The Groups!

It was amazing to see a full turn out for the recent group coaching on course competitions! The Wednesday Clive Reed Trophy match was a hotly contested affair after a rather competitive build up to the day between the two teams.
It was the closest game in the long history of the tournament with both the men's and women's teams finishing tied on 272 shots! Many will point to their booming drive or their crucial 5 foot putt they holed as the moment that got their team the draw but in the end the carnival atmosphere and after party was, at the very least, on par with the golfing prowess.

The Saturday edition was also as close as it's ever been with only 1 shot separating each of the teams. The live leaderboard changed almost after every hole but in the end congratulations to Sandra, Tracy & Jasmine on taking the spoils.

The real question is, why wouldn't you want to join this fun...

Russell wins big in the ultimate challenge!

I often get asked by beginners “how long would it take to get competent at golf” good enough to get out on the course and compete with friends/colleagues who have been playing for several years. With lessons, dedication and practice it can be quicker than you may think + certainly an enjoyable ride getting there too with the usual ups + downs that learning to play the challenging game golf can be.
A couple of years ago I met Russell who had just taken up the game on the back of a challenge/bet with a few of his close friends. Having not played before, he predicted that within 2 years he could beat his friends, who had all been playing a while, off a level playing field.
And so the challenge/bet was born, 2 years of lessons, practice + playing to get a game in shape to compete (and hopefully beat!) his friends….and to spice things up, £500 a man was wagered between the 4 of them, the winner to take home £1500 courtesy of the losing 3.
After some lessons on the range to build a swing initially we spent the last year or so mainly having on course lessons to work on course management and short game to get him course ready for the challenge.
Russell put it in lots of hard work on his game, playing throughout the winter at the club and even some oversees golf in the sunshine.
A few weeks ago was to be the day, 18 holes to decide the winner of the bet…due to his dedication and hard work Russell did indeed come out victorious beating his nearest competitor by 5 shots to take home the sizeable prize pot ££! I am very pleased for Russell to have won his bet but even more pleased that he has now well and truly got the golf bug and will be playing this great game for many years to come. Well done Russell!
If you have a bet/goal to hit with your golf or your handicap has been heading in the wrong direction recently then don’t hesitate to give me a message and we can put a plan in place with range or on course lessons to get your game in shape.
Happy golfing

Great to receive a message like this after coaching all day. The weather was lovely, so Leah and I went on the course and put some of the work we’d done on the range into practice.

Keen to see how your game holds up on the course? Book a lesson and let’s make it happen.
Great to have Matt in for a session ahead of his society golf weekend. He came in battling with his irons and seeing a few too many shanks. We made a couple of simple adjustments, cleaned up the strike, and the very next day Matt went out and won his society event.

If your game needs a quick tune-up, book a session and let’s get you back on track.
Great to get 15 people I’ve coached out on the course and playing a friendly social event. Congratulations to Tom, John and Tim, who won on count back by 1 shot. A very good team effort. Also well done to Kelly, who won the best shot of the day with a fantastic 7 iron to 8 feet on the first hole. Great to see everyone enjoying themselves, even in the extreme heat!

If you want to play with more confidence, hit better shots, and actually enjoy your time on the course, book a lesson and let’s get you there.

Celebrating Parent & Child Challenge!

It was incredible to see 58 juniors & parents compete in the T-Dog Parent & Child Challenge on Sunday, hosted by junior club legend Thomas (aka T Dog)! In it's 13th edition, the event has helped kids transition onto the golf course, spend some quality time with their families and also compete to get their hands on the famous title.

For the first time in its history the main man himself led his team to victory with Thomas, Connor, Danny & John winning by 1 shot with an entertaining 30 strokes (3 under par) around the, unofficial home of golf, Falconwood Course.

They just pipped the teams of Rosie ("the worst score we got was a par"), Seb, Alastair & Rob and big hitting Roy, Joe, Lucas & Anthony with both teams reaching 2 under par in record speed.

Congratulations to all the prize winners including the new T-Puppy U10's Champions Sammy, Patrick & Phil.

Thanks to everyone for making it such a special day.

When Mark Delin started our Learn to Play programme, he was a complete beginner. Fast forward through Levels 1, 2 and 3, and he’s now shooting 41 on 9 holes! His next goal is to break 40.

“Really been able to apply a lot from the lessons we’ve had which has been great"

Mark's progress shows what’s possible with the right support, a bit of consistency, and a love for the game. If you’re ready to do the same, we’ve got some great opportunities coming up:
⛳Free Taster Session – Tuesday 17th June
⛳ Level 1 Starts – Tuesday 24th June
⛳ Level 2 Starts – Sunday 22nd June

95 Kids Compete at Primary Festival!

It was amazing to see 95 new young golfers give golf a go at the Croydon Primary Golf Festival at Addington Court yesterday in association with Croydon School Sport Partnerships. Colour, noise, friendships and the winners qualifying to the London Youth Games Final at The London Stadium. Wow!

15 young leaders from Shirley High School were trained up to deliver fun and engaging golfing games with the primary schools rotating around the stations to see how many points they amassed. I tell you what, they amassed more than ever!

Congratulations to Chipstead Valley on another historic victory! We wish you the very best in the final.

Thanks to all the family members, pets and teachers for coming to cheer the kids along.

This is one that will last long in the memory!
Just a couple of weeks ago, Coleen wrapped up our Caddie Programme with one clear goal, get down to a 25 handicap by the end of summer.

Well… summer isn’t over, but she’s already smashed that goal!

Since finishing the programme:
⛳ She’s placed 2nd in a fun comp
⛳ And just this week, she came 2nd in the County Championships
⛳ Dropped her handicap to 25.4

All by learning how to think her way around the course, not swing harder.

If you’ve got a goal in mind this season, or if you’re tired of technical changes and want to score better now, the Caddie Programme might just be for you.
