Rory wasn’t the only winner this weekend…

Our 9 Hole Challenge brought out some great golf, good banter and plenty of smiles, even with a little rain in the mix. It was a team event where only the best score on each hole counted, and the winning trio took it by four shots with a total of 38.

⛳ Big congrats to Dinesh Mangaru, Nimai Mangaru and John Blezard for taking the win. Nimai also grabbed nearest the pin for the day with a cracking shot. 🎯

But the highlight? Dayle Wells pulled off the best shot of the day with an up-and-down from a near-impossible spot on the 9th. Pure class. 🔥

Thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a great afternoon. Keep an eye out for our next fun event!

It was great to get out on the course with Will and work on some short game skills.

We made a couple of small adjustments to his basic chip shot, but the real breakthrough was learning a high, soft-landing shot that gives him options when he’s short-sided or stuck in a tricky lie. That one shot could be the difference between saving par or walking away frustrated.

⛳ Want to improve your short game like Will?
📆 Join our Short Game School on Sunday 13th April, 9am–12pm.

Lee’s been working hard since the start of the year, making some really solid changes to his swing. One of the biggest shifts was learning not to get too shallow on the downswing, which has completely transformed the way he strikes his irons.

It’s not just the ball flight that’s improved. Lee’s more confident, more consistent, and way more excited to get out and play now that the weather’s turning.

Now's the time. If you want to start your season feeling the same way, book in for a pre-season assessment. It’s the best way to get your swing on track and set yourself up for a summer of great golf. Tell us your goal for the season and let's get you there!

Driving range improvements 17th-28th March

After having the top tier of the driving range re-carpeted with new mats and dividers put in place toward the end of last year the next improvements are due with the side netting being replaced over the next few weeks. Whilst the work is taking place lessons will be exclusively on course mid week with the choice of either on course or driving range lessons at the weekend. The weather looks relatively dry so it’s a good time to be out on the course honing your skills for the upcoming golfing season - *photo taken yesterday mid lesson on the academy course!*

From April the range will be back open for lessons and practice with opening times increasing to 8pm during the week.

Junior Long Drive a Real Blast!

The SD Junior Long Drive Championship, hosted by junior club legend Stephen, created it's usual mix of excitement, power and camaraderie.

The 10 powerhouses of the junior section competed against each other through qualifying rounds, group stages and then 2 finals. The junior elite section was a closely contested affair with all 5 qualifiers knocking it past 230 yards. Connor came agonisingly close to making the final but his 274 yard drive fell just 1 yard short of the qualifying mark.

Former Surrey junior Order of Merit Champion, Jamie, was first up in the final and his longest drive throughout the contest of 284 yards was an impressive display. However, new kid on the block, Aaron, used his raw talent and athleticism to boom out a 285 yard high draw with the final shot of the contest to take gold this year!

In the Junior Challengers contest there were some personal bests with Adah hitting 147 yards and Owen's 185 yarder taking him to the final against one of the pre tournament favourites Caitlin. Caitlin took the honours, repeatedly hitting over the 180 yard mark with a display that will give her huge confidence for the season ahead.

Thank you for all the energy and support from the players and parents alike, with a special thank you to Team Doherty for putting up the prizes.
It was great to get Daniel in before his weekend golf trip! He was striking his irons well but wanted to fix his slicing off the tee. A few adjustments; wider stance, more weight in his trail foot, and increased shoulder tilt. These small changes helped him hit up on the ball, eliminate the slice, and even shape a few draws.

Got a trip coming up? A specific goal for the season? Or just tired of fighting a pesky slice? Book a session and let’s get your game dialed in! ⛳

Sigrid came in for a lesson, looking to add some distance to her drives. With a few key adjustments, namely more body rotation in the backswing and a stronger, more balanced follow-through, she gained an extra 20 yards off the tee! 🚀🔥

It’s amazing what a few tweaks can do, and I can’t wait to see how far she’s hitting it when the season starts.

If you want to add some serious distance before your first competitive rounds of the year, now’s the time to get to work! Book a session and let’s unlock more power (and more confidence) in your game. ⛳💪
